Plant Department Dirt
Poinsettia Pointers
Carol Heeren

Here's a riddle:  What plant is afraid of the cold, afraid of the rain, bleeds sticky, irritating sap, goes up in price every year and is sold in every retail, mass market outlet around from now until Christmas???

You guessed it.  It could not be Christmas, without our favorite holiday plant the Poinsettia.  Every year there seems to be a new novelty color that knocks my Christmas socks off.  Set your shop apart from the masses by offering some of these new exciting varieties.

Here are a few simple tips to help you keep those Holiday Divas happy

1.  When your Poinsettias arrive, unsleeve and water them as soon as possible, especially if they are in paper sleeves.

2.  Place them in a warm location out of drafts if possible.

3.  Keep them evenly moist, being  careful not to water the bracts.  They will spot if they get wet.

4.  Protect them from cold when delivering and be sure to include a care tag with each plant.

If you have questions, please feel free to call me at 1-800-208-2182 and Merry Christmas from the real Christmas Carol.

Supply Department Scoop
Is Pulp Fiction?

Pulp pots have been standard issue supplies for weddings and funerals for ever.  Now there is an alternative!

The new Ultimate Design Containers and Ultimate Design Bowls just came in and we are expecting rave reviews.  Imagine a container the same size, shape and color as your favorite standard pulp.  Now imagine that container in a durable, reusable, recyclable plastic.  Too good to be true?  Well it just gets better because they are priced the same as pulp too.

We love them because no trees were killed in order to produce them.  We love them because, unlike pulp, you can reuse them as many times as you wish.  And we love them because they bring wedding and funeral design into the twenty first century with sleeker lines and a lightly textured matte finish instead of the bumpy, papery texture of pulp.

Next time you need a pulp container consider trying a new Ultimate Design Container or Bowl instead.  You'll see the difference and make "Pulp Fiction."

Cranberry or Ruby?

Call it CRANBERRY in December.  Call it RUBY in February.

You can't go wrong with red glass this time of year.  That splash of intense color makes for rich holiday arrangements.  But rich does not mean expensive since we have all ruby glass on sale now through Dec 14th.

We'll help you think outside the rose vase too by offering the hottest new shapes in vases.   The Trio Bouquet Vase and the Gallery Bud Vase Assortments are two of our favorite trendy shapes

Stock up now for Christmas and that other red influenced holiday coming up in February.  Sale limited to promotional stock on hand.  Click here to see the RED HOT prices of this holiday staple.
